World Social Forum is everywhere!

This letter from the organizers of the Global Day of Action explains the thinking behind the event:

As you might already know, the next WSF, on January 2008, will not be
an event but a day of action all over the world.

The appeal for the Global Day of Action has been signed by all the WSF
International Council members, by the ones belonging to the Social
Movements Network and also is being signed by thousands of
continental, regional, national and local groups.

The website www.wsf2008.net shows a world map where all the actions
(from the biggest to the smallest one) are visible, and a global team
will work with the press and media. Please visit it, publish your
actions and get in touch with others!

We hope you will join the Global Day of Action!

The aim of the Global Day of Action is to show how large is the
alliance for a different world, with all our plurality of cultures,
experiences and platforms.

The Global Day of Action will be also an opportunity to give
visibility to the struggles, the campaigns, the alternatives, which
live, everywhere in the world.

If you want to take part in it, on 26th of January 2008, you should
organize a visible action (a meeting, a demonstration, a cultural
event, a press conference, a seminar, a vigil…..) on the issue you
will decide. It's not important to organize a big event, it's enough
to held something already belonging to your agenda on the 26th of
January or in the previous week.

A Mobilization Group of the WSF is trying to spread information about
the Global Day of Action as much as possible.

We believe it's crucial to involve movements, organizations, networks
from Africa, whose societies are so deeply involved in social,
economical, cultural and military processes coming from neoliberal
globalization.

The struggles for human, social, economical rights, against
exploitation, colonialism and wars, for democracy in your continent
are very crucial for all the global movement. We would like the Global
Day of Action being a tool for let them better known all over the
world.

This is the reason why we write you, hoping to be in touch and to work
together for the Global Day of Action. The Mobilization group will do
its best to support your commitment and your effort and we are ready
to use the resources we have to give an help, if needed.

If you want to be part of the Global Day of Action or if you are
already involved in the preparation, please send us a mail to
globalaction@wsf2008.net explaining what you are planning. Or you ay
also directly publish it at www.wsf2008.net

We ask you to spread this information to your contacts and mailing lists.
